The UNIDO ITPO Bahrain was established in 1996, with the aim of facilitating the mobilization of foreign resources to enhance industrial partnership and cooperation between companies in both the Kingdom and other nations. Through the UNIDO ITPO Network of in 8 countries (Kingdom of Bahrain, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nigeria and Russian Federation); ITPO Bahrain provides a wide spectrum of services offered to investors and entrepreneurs ranging from business counseling to the setting up of joint ventures and assist in forging new alliances in international industrial investment and technology transfer.
Since 1986, UNIDO ITPOs have contributed to reducing development imbalances, by brokering investment and technology agreements and opening up opportunities to find potential partners and offers unique services to entrepreneurs and business institutions. ITPOs guide potential investors and offer screened and validated investment opportunities, while also providing first-hand knowledge on how to do business in local environments.
The promotion of foreign direct investments and its positive correlation to domestic investment has led ITPO Bahrain to establish the Arab International Center for Entrepreneurship & Investment Training (AICEI).
The Center's mandate is to:
- Contribute to economic empowerment of youth & women regionally & internationally
- Unleash and stimulate the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation through various programs
- Assist in developing eco-systems for micro, small & medium enterprises
- Share and disseminate best practices for the development of value added services for the startup and growth of MSMEs and entrepreneurs
- Institutionalize counseling programs aimed at facilitating enterprise growth
- Develop linkages between financial institutions and entrepreneur programs
- Institutionalize incubation management systems through a range of services offered
